Eerie spaces, resilient souls, fragile magic and the lingering dark...

Greetings folks, I'm J.A. Haigh, author of folkloric horror and dark fantasy. 

​

My work has been described as lyrical, eerie and atmospheric, and explores themes of belonging, grief, identity and resilience, with an Australian gothic vibe. 

​

In the pages of my books, there is often a brittle main character with the world on her shoulders, and a strange fire burning within. Or a fractured outsider who can't catch a break but doesn't have the luxury of giving up.  

​

I like plants and the inherent weirdness of nature, the wonder of this crazy planet, the possibility of magic bubbling away beneath the fragile surface of things. The depths we don't yet know.

I write short stories and novels for young adult and adult markets and some of them are pretty good. You can check out a few on my writing page.
